Cyber Connect 2 told fans they where aware of the balance issues present in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storms 2 online and for that part they have indeed fixed the overpowered characters found in the prevoius game. However even though those previous characters are no longer overpowered, Cyber Connect 2 have done it again by making one or two of the new characters totaly overpowered again. Making playing the rest of the cast pointless when you can't beat a few specific characters.

Thus the cycle of the overpowered characters versus the rest of the cast is another issue. Characters like the Masked man when used with supports such as Hidan and Kimmimaru make the online play unfun to play with. Because of the simple combo mechanics and jutsus that can be used overused, ranked and competitive play is unfun and just turns into a stay at range and spam jutsu battle. Where actual combos are still not being used. And when you have 90% of the player base playing as these overpowered characters, playing the game online feels pointless and stressful.

And why use supports that only hit once when you can use Hidan that hits the person eight or so times and keeps them pinned down allowing the player who used the support to use an ultimate on you. It's issues like this that prevent the game from becomming good. What needs to happen is if you subtiute a jutsu from a support character you should appear behind the person who summoned the support. Not subtiute right on top of the support so you can get caught in it again. What where they thinking?

Overall the balance is a mess, even worse when you have clearly stronger characters then some of the other roster. It's because of this reason i feel that the storm series will never be a good fighting game. But instead simply remain as a casual naruto game.

Graphicly tthe game looks great and does the job of feeling and looking like the anime perfectly. Every jutsu and special move is faithfully recreated in amazing graphics. The game has both english and japanese audiotracks also which is a nice bonus.


If you haven't played any of the past storm games, then try the game out, it's a great game for naruto fans and newcommers to the series. The game has a huge roster of characters from Part 1 and Shippuden storylines. But its no way near balanced. But its alot better than storm 2 because of the options the game gives you.
